When we’re in a dark place, we sometimes tend to think we’ve been buried.

Perhaps we’ve been planted.

Child & Adolescent Therapy

“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.” -Friedrich Froebel

The language of children is that of “Play”. Children’s imagination is a door into their underlying emotions and thoughts. And adolescents also “play,” but their play looks a little different. Adolescents begin to play with other’s emotions or “play pretend” with their own identity, trying to figure out who they are.

I am a therapist who understands how to build a connection with your child or teen by using their own language and using the art of play to engage them in the therapeutic space. I am passionate about helping children and adolescents learn how to manage emotions and problem behaviors, peer issues, and school issues; or gain confidence, plan for the future, and learn how to cope with challenges the family faces as a whole. I also believe in the power of the role of the parent or caregiver and assisting you in gaining confidence in your vital role and solidifying the connection with your child.

Family Therapy

"Families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter."

Family therapy is also a key component in assisting children and adolescents meet their goals. Also, family therapy can help families navigate significant changes or hardships.

I help families learn how to communicate with each other in more effective and healthier ways; and ultimately find joy and laughter again. I believe therapy is allowed to be fun. Families can grow closer in numerous ways, not just by having tough conversations, but also by having fun with one another. I create a balance of this in the therapeutic space so that families look forward to coming back to therapy each week.

First-Responders & Their Families

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” – Kahlil Gibran

I am an Emergency Responder and Public Safety Certified Clinician, trained to target the unique challenges first responders and their families encounter. For years, I have been providing direct services to firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement, correctional officers, and their partners and families. I have also worked side by side with first-responders on a weekly basis in responding to mental health crises in the community and residential facilities.  I understand the culture and the common challenges of the nature of this work, and the impact it has on an individual’s wellbeing and surrounding relationships.  I have the utmost respect and appreciation for you and your family’s public service.

Continual exposure to stress and traumatic events has a significant impact on mental health and wellness. Being a first responder is a tough profession and hard on those who choose it. The physical threats are clear, which is why you train and sharpen your skills constantly to protect against the highly visible threats. The psychological dangers are more hidden but every bit as real. Knowing how to protect yourself mentally, especially knowing when it is time to get help, is as important to your well-being as any other safety skill.

Trauma Therapy

“Trauma creates change you don’t choose. Healing is about creating change you do choose.”

Trauma-Focused Therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts a person’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. This type of therapy is rooted in understanding the connection between the trauma experience and your emotional and behavioral responses. The purpose of trauma-focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist you in better understanding, coping with, processing emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences, with the end goal of enabling you to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experience that took place in your life.

Couples Therapy

“A great relationship doesn’t happen because of the love you had in the beginning, but how well you continue building love until the end.”

69% of couples conflict are perpetual, and never get resolved.  The negative cycle you are both stuck in is the problem, not you or your partner.  To make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes and dreams.  With my guidance, I can help couples experience each other in a new way, and regain a sense of connection, love, support, security, and desire.  Developing an emotionally intelligent relationship is one dimension in the couple…the other is enhancing your desire and eroticism for each other.  Let’s help you tune into one another and find each other again!

Men’s Issues

“What you’re looking for is not out there, it is in you.”

I am a trusted therapist in specializing with both young and adult men’s issues. Growing up in a large family of men – 5 brothers, 10 uncles, and 30 plus male cousins, I have both personal and professional experience in assisting in the cultivation and promoting of men’s mental health.  The role of the modern-day man has been convoluted with mixed messages and left men feeling lost with no clear direction.  This can have profound consequences on mood, self-esteem, occupation, physical and sexual health, and your relationships.  Therapy can help shift and shape the man you wish to become and find meaning and purpose in life.

Occupational Stress

“Burnout becomes about when too much of your life is draining and not enough is fulfilling, then a sense of hopelessness can take over.”

Work stress can rob you of joy, interfere with your ability to be present with friends and family, and lead to sleepless nights -just to name a few.  Whether it’s long hours; toxic work environment; poor leadership; high demands; no work/life balance; no recognition, support, or autonomy; or loss of interest – these can all take a toll on your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.  I am a Certified Employee Assistant Professional who specializes in supporting employees and managers with issues in the workplace.  I have helped hundreds learn to cope and increase motivation, create work/life balance, and prepare for a change in their career.
